Visitor charged with manslaughter in Kona death

Police charged a 37-year-old Pittsburgh man with manslaughter Tuesday evening in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man following an altercation that took place Monday at a vacation rental in Kailua-Kona.

States struggle to get rent relief to tenants amid pandemic

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced last July that New York would spend $100 million in federal coronavirus relief to help cash-strapped tenants pay months of back rent and avert evictions. By the end of October, the state had doled out only about $40 million, reaching 15,000 of the nearly 100,000 people looking for help. More than 57,000 applicants were denied because of criteria set by lawmakers that many said was difficult to meet.

Police arrest 19 for DUI

During the week of March 22-28, Hawaii Island police arrested 19 motorists for DUI. Two of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One was younger than 21.
