Henry “Dan” Granville Danford, 83, of Glenwood died Feb. 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired farmer. Services at a later date. Michael Lewis Luther, 59, of Pahoa died Feb. 12 in Hilo. Born in Newport Beach, Calif., he was a carpenter. Charles “Charlie” Yasuo Tamashiro, 83, of Hilo and formerly of Oahu, died March 3, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired senior manager for the former Beneficial Finance Company, employed at Kobayashi Travel, member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission, Alokele Kumiai, Waiakea Pirates Organization, Hilo High School class of 1954 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Visitation 9–10 a.m. Wednesday (March 3) at Puna Hongwanji Mission. Private memorial service to follow. Casual attire. Face masks and social required. Survived by wife, Jean Tamashiro of Hilo; daughters, Jennifer (Bruce) Yoshikawa of Pullman, Wash. and Janelle (Robert) Fendler of Alturas, Calif.; brother, Takeo Tamashiro of Hilo; sisters, Shirley Yahata of Torrance, Calif., Joan Akamine of Gardena, Calif. and Ruthie (Ken) Sakamoto of Torrance, Calif.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
