Manliguis scholarships

Larry Manliguis scholarship applications are being accepted for 2020 high school graduates attending or planning to attend college.


There will be two $400 scholarships – donated by the Hilo High class of 1960 – available to High High graduates – and one $400 scholarship will be given to a graduate of any Big Island school (donated by Iolani alumni basketball, Jay Mandaquit, and Bruce Ferreira).

To complete the application process, send in a one-page essay on how sports helped you and how you will give back through sports in the future, and a copy of your last quarter grades – which should be at least a 2.0.

Hilo Little League elections

Hilo Little League’s annual Board of Directors election will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Waiakea Uka lower-field outdoor concession stand. Face coverings are required and social distancing guidelines will be in effect.
