Mayor Harry Kim submitted a new emergency rule to Gov. David Ige that would reduce the size of gatherings on the Big Island.
Kim’s Rule 11 would limit social gathering group sizes to 10 people indoors and outdoors.
It also would reduce the number of people allowed to participate in sports practices to 25 (from 35) and in competitive play to 50 (from 100).
Kim’s rule also seeks to extend the COVID-19 emergency period to Sept. 30 and continues the self-quarantine requirements for all travel to Hawaii County.
