During the week of April 29-May 5, Hawaii Police Department officers arrested 11 individuals and issued 20 citations for violating Gov. David Ige’s stay-at-home order related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the week of April 29-May 5, Hawaii Police Department officers arrested 11 individuals and issued 20 citations for violating Gov. David Ige’s stay-at-home order related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The numbers by district are as follows:
• Kona, four arrests and 10 citations.
• South Hilo, four arrests and three citations.
• Ka‘u, two arrests.
• South Kohala, one arrest and two citations.
• Hamakua, five citations.
None of the arrests or citations involved visitors violating the 14-day travel self-quarantine, police said.
The six-week enforcement total stands at 83 arrests and 206 citations.
Violations of the emergency stay-at-home or 14-day visitor quarantine orders are misdemeanors that carry potential penalties of a year in jail or a fine of $5,000 upon conviction.
