More than 125,000 people worldwide have died due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the United States, there have been 25,163 deaths as of 11:20 a.m. HST, or 20% of the world’s virus fatalities.
More than 10,000 of those deaths were in New York state.
Worldwide more than 2 million have tested positive, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. Almost 600,000 in the U.S. have contracted the virus.
On March 1, there were 98 confirmed cases in the U.S.
On March 15, there were about 4,600 cases.
By April 1, the number rose to more than 243,000 as testing efforts increased nationally.
As of this morning, the number of people who have tested positive in Hawaii County is 39. Twenty-eight have recovered, and the remaining 11 are quarantined at home and are being monitored by the state Department of Health.
Statewide, there were 504 cases as of Monday, and more than 19,000 people have been tested.
More than 470,000 people worldwide have recovered from the virus, including just over 45,000 in the U.S.
