Marlene May Ah Lo, 72, of Hilo died March 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was the owner of the former Firehouse Restaurant. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by husband, Kenneth Ah Lo of Hilo; sons, Kenneth (Felidan) Ah Lo II of Honolulu and Keola (Elaine) Nosaka of Virginia; daughter, Noralene Ah Lo of Hilo; brother, Calvin Arthur of Waipahu, Oahu; sisters, Georgianne (John) Amaral of Naalehu and Sharon (Louis) Perreira of Hilo; brother-in-law, Melvin Ah Lo of Hilo; sister-in-law, Ethel Ah Lo of Hilo; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Maria Pagaduan Garlitos, 88, of Keaau died Feb. 19 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born in Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a retired elementary school teacher in the Philippines and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private services. Survived by sons, Rodolfo (Maria Carmella) Garlitos, Manuel (Ester) Garlitos, Ruben (Wennie) Garlitos and Roberto (Marites) of Keaau; brothers, Modesto Pagaduan and Domingo Pagaduan of Hawaii; sisters, Felisa Espresion and Caridad Villanueva of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Juanita Ramirez, 86, of Mountain View died Feb. 22 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Waiakea Uka, she was a retired co-owner of the former Mountain View Village Store, employee of the former Food Fair Supermarket, Hilo Dry Goods and Hilo Drug Co. and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, St. Theresa Catholic Church Choir and Holy Rosary Catholic Church Choir. Survived by son, Steven Ramirez of Las Vegas; daughters, Carla (James) Venable of Mountain View and Shelley (George) Karvas of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Karen Hong Ramirez of Honolulu; brothers, Clemente (Doris) Castro of Honolulu and Fernando (Marilani) Castro of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Margarita De Curtis of Champaign, Ill., Martina (Ralph) Atkins of Rome, Ga., and Carmena (Walter) Otomo of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Shirley Castro of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Dominga Agbannawag of Pahoa, Tomasa Tara and Dionicia Ramirez of the Philippines; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Severo “Slim” Ramirez, 95, of Mountain View died Feb. 21 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Lussoc, Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired welding supervisor and welder for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and a co-owner of the former Mountain View Village Store.
