Education briefs for March 4

Students named to academic lists

• Julius Vance G. Manglona, of Hilo, Hankamer School of Business, was named to the Dean’s Academic Honor Roll at Baylor University for the 2019 Fall semester.

• Maile Fediuk, of Kailua-Kona, earned Dean’s List recognition for the Fall 2019 semester at Dixie State University, located in St. George, Utah.

• Gabrielle Lilihana Gleason, of Hilo, was named to the Southern Arkansas University Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester. Gleason is a senior K-6 STEM elementary education major.

• Seth Fukushima, of Hilo, was named to the Provost’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2019 semester at Whitworth University, located in Spokane, Wash.

• Riley Newton, of Kailua-Kona, majoring in theatre acting and directing, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester at Baldwin Wallace University.

• Sabrina Pike, of Kailua-Kona, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2019 Fall semester. Pike is a senior majoring in archaeology and creative writing.

• Janelle Laros, of Kailua-Kona, has been named to the Dean’s List at Lehigh University for the Fall 2019 semester.

• Thelma Marshall, of Hilo, has been named to Dickinson State University’s Dean’s List for the 2019 fall semester.

• Hannah Duggan, of Honokaa, has been named to the President’s List at the University of the Cumberlands for the Fall 2019 semester.

• Jacob H. Young, of Kapaau, was named to the Dean’s List at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for outstanding academic achievement during the Fall 2019 semester.

• Cole Kaleo Makaweo deSilva and Aubree H. Silva, both of Hilo, were named to the Gonzaga University Dean’s List for Fall semester 2019.

• Kimokeo Bowden, a graduate of Hilo High School, earned academic distinction for the Fall 2019 semester at Whitman College.

• Anna Moon, of Kailua-Kona, has been named to the Emerson College Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester. Moon is majoring in writing, literature and publishing.

• Janey Lienau, of Kailua-Kona, was named to the Wheaton College Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester.

• Hayden Virtue, of Hawi, and Anna Morita, of Kailua-Kona, were named to the Dean’s List at Tufts University for the Fall 2019 semester.

• Kiyono Mcdonald, of Kailua-Kona, was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

• Joshua Breitbarth, of Hilo, has been named to the Simpson College President’s List for the Fall 2019 semester.

• Elizabeth Wing-Daniels, of Kealakekua, was named to the Canisius College Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 semester. Wing-Daniels is pursuing a degree in Biology.

• Amara Gatto, of Waikoloa, has been named to the Bryant University Deans’ List for the Fall 2019 semester.

Students graduate

• Krissy English, of Waimea, graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Graceland University, celebrated in a ceremony on Dec. 14 in Lamoni, Iowa.

• Aidan Alcos, of Kailua-Kona, and Po‘Okela Hanato- Smith, of Kealakekua, graduated from Azusa Pacific University on Dec. 14, and joined approximately 1,492 graduates at the winter commencement ceremonies.

• Reuben Tate, of Pahoa, has earned a Master of Science in Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Tate joined approximately 4,200 students during Georgia Tech’s 258th Commencement exercises Dec. 13-14.
