The 327 citations were for: speeding, 159; seat belt violations, 20; child restraint violations, three; excessive tint on windows/windshields, two; driving without a license, 12; driving without insurance, 19; unsafe vehicle, five; other moving violations, 12; no license plates, six; and regulatory violations, 89.
No parking tickets were issued.
Two of the arrests were for DUI and the others for contempt of court or failure to appear.
The 14-week-long Daniel K. Inouye Highway enhanced traffic enforcement by the police department, which started on Aug. 15, has resulted in 6,912 citations issued and 66 people arrested for 125 offenses. Police say the stepped-up enforcement will continue for the duration of the ongoing protest for the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
