Scabies outbreak at veterans home resolved

Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo is back to normal operations without visitor restrictions after addressing an outbreak of scabies reported last month, according to Administrator David Pettijohn.

Pettijohn said in an email Wednesday that no further cases were noted beyond those previously reported.

In a written statement provided in late September, Pettijohn said 30 residents and 29 staff members had exhibited symptoms of scabies. Pettijohn said Wednesday that all cases were resolved.
