Bruce “Batman” Wayne Bernard, 74, of Hilo died May 28 at home. Born on Oahu, he was a retired carpenter. No services. Survived by wife, Virginia Bernard of Hilo; sons, Bruce Bernard Jr. of Seattle, Anthony Bernard of San Francisco, Moses Bernard II of Waianae, Oahu; daughters, Charing Bernard of San Diego, Jadelyn Gomez of Madeira, Calif.; sisters, Puaala Bonomi of Kailua-Kona, Johneete (William) Alderson of Arkansas; 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Thais Tallett Bowman, 78, of Hilo died Aug. 5 at home. Born in Hilo, she graduated from St. Francis School on Oahu, retired as a senior lifeguard for Hawaii County in Laupahoehoe and Laupahoehoe School Swimming Pool, and was an avid golfer. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Celebration of Mass 10 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers and lei welcomed. Urn committal at Homelani Memorial Park (Section 7). Survived by daughters, Carmen Bowman of Hilo and Claire (Rex) Napeahi of Pahoa; sons, Clifford (Noelani) Bowman and Clyde Bowman of Hilo; brothers, Paul N. (Evonne Bjornen) Tallett, Keffy (Veronica) Tallett and Adelbert (Mona) Tallett of Hilo, Willibrord (Pauline) Tallett of Kaneohe, Oahu and Hilyard (Phyllis Dietrich) Tallett of Texas; sister, Lucille Fay (Paul) Meyers of Oahu; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert Bruce Eck, 75, of Keaau died Aug. 12 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in New Jersey, he was a blackjack dealer for the former Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. No services. Donna Mae Rupert, 60, of Pahoa died July 27. She was born in Pennsylvania. Memorial service 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Solid Rock East Hawaii, 15-2731 Pahoa Village Road, Pahoa. Casual attire. Helene B. Snedeker, 76, of Keaau died July 14 at Pohai Malama. Born in Germany, she was a retired housekeeper. Private services held. Survived by sons, Wallace Snedeker of California, Steven Snedeker of Montana, David Snedeker and Christopher Snedeker of Arizona; daughter, Patricia Balles of Mountain View; sister Annamaire Norstrom of Colorado; numerous grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Nancy May Wynne Spinney, 81, of Waikoloa died Aug. 6 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Honolulu, she worked in the travel and hospitality industry for various hotels, including Wakiki Biltmore, Keauhou Beach Hotel and Kona Lagoon Hotel. Celebration of life 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the family residence in Waikoloa, with service at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. Contact the family for information.
