Alan Yoshio Akine, 74, of Hilo died Feb. 11, at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired businessman, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Leona Ann Toler, 69, of Hilo died Feb. 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired billing clerk for Yamada &Sons, former waitress and hula dancer for Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel and a former switchboard operator for the former Hawaiian Tel. Celebration of life 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at the family home, 195 Todd Ave., Hilo.
