George “SgtMaj” Olivar, 81, of Lompoc, Calif., died Oct. 17 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Secret Service agent assigned to protect President Ronald Reagan, retired U.S. Marine Corps sergeant major who served three tours of combat duty in Vietnam and National Guard veteran who enjoyed smoking meat, drag racing, NASCAR, fishing, family and sporting events and marksmanship.
