During the week of Oct. 22-28, police arrested 22 motorists for DUI. Two of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident.
The numbers of arrests by district were: Kona, 13; South Hilo, seven; and South Kohala, two.
So far this year, there have been 913 DUI arrests compared to 950 during the same period last year, a decrease of 3.9 percent.
There have been 1,041 major accidents so far this year compared to 1,136 during the same period last year, a decrease of 8.4 percent.
To date, there have been 26 official traffic fatalities, compared to 28 at the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 7.1 percent for fatalities.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide, police said.
