Council: No more second-hand buses

The county’s original double-decker bus, which arrived on the island in early 2010, promptly broke down and has been idling on blocks at the county base yard for most of the last seven years. It’s about ready to go back on the road, transit officials said. (Hawaii County photo)

The County Council doesn’t want the Big Island to be known as the hand-me-down island and is asking the Mass Transit Administration to quit accepting used buses from other counties.
