The 31st Annual St. Joseph School Country Fair will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 6) at the St. Joseph High School grounds in Hilo. Everyone is invited to attend and admission is free.
“This is an extra special year for us as we are celebrating our school’s 150th anniversary in Hilo,” said Teresa Fuata, an SJS staff member.
This is the school’s main fundraising event each year. Carnival-style games for keiki of all ages, jumping castles, a keiki train and more will be offered.
All-day live entertainment is planned for the whole family to enjoy.
The performance line-up includes Gavien Mata, Ro-Ling Tones, DD and the High Rollers, Bobby Reno Band, Average Joes, and the Fat Brown Rhythm Section.
“There will be a variety of local style foods, including plate lunches, hot malasadas, fresh baked goods and other local favorites such as Filipino food and Thai salad,” said Fuata.
“Join in on the excitement of our renowned silent auction featuring a 5-day, 4-night stay at the California Hotel in Las Vegas, household items, themed gift baskets, certificates, and services.”
The fair will also include handmade arts and crafts, plants, produce, pickles and preserves.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, with the grand prize drawing for a 55-inch HD TV to be held at 1:45 p.m.
“We’ve got all kinds of things going on, it’s going to be a one-stop fun day. Our Big Island community has been through a lot over the past few months, the St. Joseph Country Fair will be a great place to look for bargains, eat good food, and relax.
“Our goal is to offer an affordable, exciting event for the community,” said Fuata.
