Roger Edwin Baldwin, 88, of Hilo died Aug. 7 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired University of Hawaii at Hilo biology professor, member of Church of the Holy Apostles, Hilo Community Chorus, Big Island Recorder Society and was a square dancer and folk dancer. Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 22) at Church of the Holy Apostles, 1407 Kapiolani St., Hilo. Private urn committal at a later date. Casual attire; no flowers. Leopoldo “Leo” “Poldo” Eugenio Aguinaldo Galapon, 92, of Keaau died Sept. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a tailor and retired nursery worker who loved taking family photos. Visitation 5-6:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Darrell Pono Kobayashi, 60, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 4 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a truck driver for HD Supply, U.S. Air Force veteran and member of Kona LOLO’S Golf Club. Born in Iba, Zambales, the Philippines, she was a housekeeper at Kona Coast Resort and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) at family home in Naalehu, Rosary at 6 p.m. All-night vigil to follow. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 22) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire; flowers welcome.
