Five golfers from Hilo and one from Waikoloa punched their ticket to the Junior World Golf Championships on Tuesday during a qualifier at Waikoloa Kings’ Course .
Hilo’s Dysen Park led the Big Island contingent by finishing second in the boys 13-4 flight with a 12-over 156 during two rounds of play. Waikoloa’s Ethan Jaehn also secured a berth after tying for third in the division at 21-over.
Waiakea sophomore Lacey Uchida is headed to junior worlds – set for July 10-13 in San Diego – after carding an 80 and a 77 to place fourth in girls 15-18.
Park and Jaehn also shot 5-over 77s during their 36 holes.
The other three Hilo qualifiers are in boys 9-10, a flight that consisted of six golfers. Jake Otani was second at 26-over, Iakona Manuia was 55-over and Noah Miyazono was another shot back.
