Gordon Herbert Palmer, 76, of Waikoloa died Feb. 2 at home. Born in North Hilo, he was a station manager for Hawaiian Airlines in Honolulu, station manager for Avis Rent A Car at the old Kona Airport and security officer for Securitas Security Services and the former Freeman Guards. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Big Game Fishing Clubhouse at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire. Rudy Dalere Rabang, 77, of Hilo died Jan. 30 in the Philippines. Born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired cane truck driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at noon at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Masaaki Sakata, 92, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Honokaa, died Dec. 21, 2017, at his family’s home. Born in Honokaa, he was an insurance salesman, owner of the former Sakata Insurance, U.S. Army veteran and member of Honokaa Lions Club and American Legion. Private services held. Survived by wife, Marilyn Sakata of Kailua-Kona; sons, Scott (Ashley) Sakata of Kailua-Kona and Rick (Haleakala) Sakata of Ahualoa; daughter, Carollyn Sakata of Kailua-Kona; sister-in-law, Masako Sakata of Naalehu: four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two nephews. Elizabeth “Lisa” Ann Vandergriff, 63, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 30 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in San Francisco, she was a retired controller for The Superior Group in Anchorage, Alaska, member of Construction Finance Management Accounting Association and certified scuba instructor for Alaska Underwater Adventures Inc. Private service at a later date. No flowers. Memorial donations to charity of choice. Survived by husband, Jerry Vandergriff of Kailua-Kona; stepsons, Robert (Leah) Vandergriff of Anchorage and William Vandergriff of Minneapolis; brother, Daniel (Glenda) Marrett of North Carolina; five grandchildren; two nephews; friends. Domiciano “Domy” S. Villena, 90, of Hawi died Feb. 7 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Pangasinan, the Philippines, he was a retired pro golf attendant and maintenance worker for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, maintenance worker at Kona Lagoon and Keauhou Beach hotels, Kona KTA Super Stores employee and member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Kohala Kumiai and Kohala Senior Citizens. Visitation 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday (March 1) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. All-night vigil starting 6 p.m. Friday (March 2) at the family home in Hawi. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kapaau.
