The Akaka Falls Lions Club, in partnership with the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation, recently participated in a service project assisting the Children’s Justice Center of East Hawaii.
Thirty-two Lions along with a family member and friend generated 136 community service hours painting two rooms of the center, washed window screens, replaced a door screen cloth, power-washed steps and walkways, washed and cleaned children’s toys and uprighted a mailbox stand.
This is the third time the Children’s Justice Center was selected for Weinberg Foundation’s $10,000 grant. The grant will assist abused and/or neglected children’s emergency and special needs fund for clothing, school supplies, medicine, food and other necessities.
Lions Tamara Brown and Ben Cockett, co-chairs of this event, coordinated the community service project.
