Police said a 31-year-old Ocean View man died May 22 as the result of a May 6 single-vehicle crash in Ka‘u.
He was identified as Jonathan A.K. Brown.
Police say Brown was taken to Kona Community Hospital and later transferred to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu in critical condition.
The car was reported stolen prior to the crash, and police are conducting an investigation.
Brown’s death is the 19th official traffic fatality this year compared to 10 at the same time last year. There also are four vehicular deaths this year not counted by police toward the official total because two occurred on private property and the other two in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
