Four years ago, Hilo barber Colby Pilor wanted to do something for the homeless community. So, he made a few calls, spread the word and set up shop with a group of associates one day to provide free haircuts for those in need. The event was a great success.
From 1-3 p.m. Monday, Pilor is repeating his community outreach by giving free haircuts to Hilo’s homeless at the Salvation Army, 219 Ponahawai St., across from Lincoln Park.
“I’ve got a group of friends that’s gonna come out, cut hair for adults and keiki, and hand out drinks, snacks and even a little cash for those who need it most,” Pilor said.
Pilor said anyone who would like to make a donation is welcome to stop by.
