Kekai Rios hit a walk-off single to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth and Hawaii beat the Hoosiers 11-10 to avoid a four-game baseball sweep in Honolulu.
The Rainbow Warriors (11-8) trailed by six runs before they finally got going in the bottom of the eighth.
With Josh Rojas aboard via a walk and Dylan Vchulek via a single, Johnny Weeks lined an RBI single into right field, jumpstarting the largest Hawaii rally of the year. Vchulek scored on Eric Ramirez’ sacrifice fly.
The biggest shot of the season came from a perfectly-placed Alex Fitchett bloop single that dropped between three converging fielders and bringing in three runs.
Casey Ryan (1-0) took over for Isaac Friesen with one out in the top of the ninth and got the win.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Vchulek singled and moved to third on a Jonathan Weeks single. Rios sealed the game with a shot into the right center alley, bringing Weeks around for the game-winning run and the squad out of the dugout to intercept Rios on the bases.

Stijn van Tilburg posted a match-high 17 kills, but the Rainbow Warriors’ men’s volleyball team fell to No. 3 BYU for the second consecutive night, 25-19, 25-23, 28-26.
UH’s struggles in Provo continued, as the No. 4 Rainbow Warriors (20-4, 10-4 MPSF) dropped their 15th straight match to the Cougars in Smith Fieldhouse. Hawaii is 3-25 all-time against BYU in Provo.
