HAZMAT dispatched to PGV

Three reports of a loud, explosive sound caused a fire company and hazardous materials unit to be dispatched to the Puna Geothermal Venture power plant in lower Puna early Tuesday afternoon.

John Drummond of Hawaii County Civil Defense said Tuesday the source of the noise wasn’t found nor were elevated levels of sulfur dioxide gas detected.
