Hospice of Hilo’s Kupu Care Program is the recipient of proceeds from Coqui’s Hideaway’s eighth anniversary Two-Person Best Ball Golf Tournament.
In the past, Coqui’s Hideaway donated the proceeds from its golf tournament to the Make a Wish Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. This year, Hospice of Hilo’s recently launched Kupu Care Program received $3,550 from the event.
The Kupu Care Program provides comprehensive palliative care coordination for those diagnosed with cancer or advanced stage congestive heart failure and who want to reverse or slow down the impacts of their illness, while continuing to work with their own doctor.
“Before Kupu Care, I was going to the ER at least once a month,” said a recent client. “It’s been four months with Kupu Care and I haven’t visited the ER yet.”
“We’re so grateful to Coqui’s Hideaway for putting together a tournament that benefits organizations in our community, sharing our value that quality of life matters,” said Lisa Kwee, Hospice of Hilo development and education coordinator. “To have been chosen as this year’s recipient is an honor. Coqui’s generosity will truly help those with chronic illness in our community.”
