Stanford’s Enriques an All-American
Stanford sophomore libero Evan Enriques landed on the NCAA Division I All-American first team.
Enriques, a 2014 Kamehameha graduate, is the first former BIIF volleyball player to earn All-American first team honors at libero.
Hawaii Storm basketball clinic June 18-19
Former Punahou girls basketball coach Mike Taylor will host the 2nd annual Hawaii Storm Basketball Clinic from June 18-19 at the Kamehameha’s Koaia Gym.
The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and is open to first through 12th graders. Registration is $75, and space is limited. Players will receive a Hawaii Storm T-shirt. Deadline is May 31.

14th Nobu Yamauchi memorial golf tourney
The Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, June 10 at the Hapuna Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $150. Entry fee includes green fee, cart, par three closest to the pin, team prizes, and lunch at the Hapuna Golf course.
Funds raised will be used for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization and partial scholarship for RBI players who will be attending college; one male and one female scholarship will be given.
The grand prize this year will be a Las Vegas vacation package, which includes air travel certificates and five days, four nights stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. This prize will be awarded to the low net team that finishes in 14th place. This is the 14th year of the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization.
Deadline to enter is June 5. Entry forms are at the Hilo Municipal Golf course or can be obtained by emailing Wayne Yamauchi at yamauchiw002@hawaii.rr.com.
Hawaii Bowl featured on Christmas Eve
The 2016 edition of the Hawaii Bowl will be played on Saturday, Dec. 24, at Aloha Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN and played on Christmas. Kick-off is 3 p.m. HST.
In its 15th year, the bowl will pit a team from Conference USA against a team from the Mountain West.
Vuls get postseason honors
UH-Hilo first baseman Cristina Menjivar, a junior from San Francisco, earned PacWest first-team softball honors while designated-player Bailey Gaspar, a sophomore from Vancouver, Wash., was a second-team selection, and second baseman Brittany Huff, a senior from Las Vegas, and third baseman Chenoa Au, a sophomore from Wahiawa, were third-team selections.
Menjivar led conference first-basemen with a .435 batting average, a .753 slugging percentage, and a .550 on-base percentage.
Gaspar led the conference with a .506 batting average and .807 slugging percentage.
Huff, a four-year starter, was fourth on the team with a .321 batting average.
Au, a transform from UH, batted .297 over 49 games.
Jordan Kurokawa, a senior right-hander, picked up his second regional award being named the National College Baseball Writers Association’s Regional Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
