Yoshiaki Shimizu, 99, of Honolulu and Hilo died Dec. 22 at Straub Clinic in Honolulu. Born in Honohina, he was a retired architectural drafting teacher at Hawaii Community College and U.S. Army Military Intelligence Service veteran in World War II. Committal services 3 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 7) at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, Honolulu. Aloha attire. Survived by son, Byron Shimizu; daughter, Annette Shimizu; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Shimizu; son-in-law, Howard Luke; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation for the late Donald “Buddy” Howard Brandt is 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 6) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, with funeral Mass at 10 a.m. The place was omitted from an obituary published Thursday.
