HONOLULU (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is in Hawaii to headline a Republican Party event and welcome a submarine back to port.
Martinez’s office said Saturday that the governor will help greet the USS Santa Fe, a submarine that has been deployed for six months in the Western Pacific.
The Santa Fe, which has a crew of roughly 155, has been carrying out missions related to national security and visiting ports in Japan, Singapore and Guam.
Martinez will be a guest at a Hawaii GOP event on Tuesday. Her office says the Hawaii Republican Party is footing the bill for travel to and from Hawaii.
Martinez will depart Friday and then head to the Summit of North American Governors and Premiers in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She will be in Colorado until Nov. 1.
