UH-Hilo seniors receive zoo friends scholarships

The Friends of the Panaewa Zoo presented its Gordon Granger/Sally Rogers Scholarships recently to Santana Soria and Kealaka‘i (Ala) Matsumoto.

Each received a check for $1,000 to help them further their studies in veterinary medicine.

Soria is a 2011 graduate of Keaau High School and Matsumoto is a 2009 Waiakea High graduate.

Both are seniors at University of Hawaii at Hilo in pre-veterinarian/animal science and intend to serve the Hilo community as veterinarians after graduating from veterinary school.
