Island Air cuts flights to Kauai, reduces flights to Lanai

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s second largest airline, Island Air, says that after June 1 it will no longer fly to Kauai and will reduce the number of flights to Lanai by more than half.

Island Air did not give a reason for the changes when it made the announcement Wednesday.

Once in effect, the flight from Honolulu to Lanai will take nearly an hour because the airline is adding a layover in Maui.

Island Air dropped service to Molokai in 2014.
