HONOLULU (AP) — A 31-year-old Liliha man faces a minimum sentence of 20 years after pleading guilty to raping three women in their apartments in 2013.
Asofitu Fio on Tuesday in state court pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual assault, one count of attempted sexual assault and three counts of kidnapping and burglary.
He faces deportation when he leaves prison.
Fio entered his plea through a Samoan interpreter.
Police say the sexual assaults occurred May 28, June 13 and Dec. 1,
Police say a DNA sample from Fio matched DNA recovered from the Dec. 1 case.
Police Chief Louis Kealoha says more than 60 officers worked on the three cases canvassing neighborhoods, interviewing witnesses and conducting surveillance.
