Little League tourney Friday
The youth baseball postseason starts Friday with three ages 9-10 teams vying for the Little League island championships at Greenwell Park in Captain Cook.
North Hawaii faces Ka’u at 3 p.m. Friday, and Hilo is also in the double-elimination event.
There are games on tap at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, and the title game will be held 11 a.m. Sunday. If necessary, a winner-take-all will follow.
UHH soccer camps on tap
The University of Hawaii at Hilo soccer program is hosting three summer camps during the next two months.
The Vulcans’ keiki camp is June 16-17 at the UHH soccer field. Registration is free for players ages 4-6, and the deadline is June 13.
Camps for older age groups are on tap for June 16-19 and July 21-24. Ages 7-10 are on the field from 9 a.m.–noon with 11-14 going from 1–4 p.m.
The camp fee is $60 with a June 13 registration deadline for the June camp and a July 18 deadline for the July camp.

Softball tourney slated in August
Teams are being sought for the “Battling for Cancer” 14-inch softball tournament scheduled Aug. 23-24 at Walter Victor Complex.
The tourney includes kupunas, men’s and women’s mixed teams. Entry fee is $200 per team.
