HONOLULU (AP) — Two real estate associations are endorsing U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz for Senate and U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for re-election to the 2nd Congressional District of the House.
The Hawaii Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors Political Action Committee announced their support Tuesday.
The groups say Schatz and Gabbard have supported tax incentives to make home ownership affordable for middle class families.
They also cite Schatz’s and Gabbard’s support for legislation to reverse unaffordable increases in flood insurance premiums. They say flood insurance premiums in Hawaii increased exponentially in the last year.
Schatz said owning a home in Hawaii can be difficult so he will work to protect tax deductions. Gabbard said she has worked to help veterans use their benefits to buy homes.
