Oliveira tapped to stay on at Civil Defense

Darryl Oliveira has been chosen to stay on as Hawaii County Civil Defense director.

The county hired Oliveira, a former fire chief, for the position on a temporary basis in January.

A selection process began earlier this year, and Oliveira was selected as the best candidate, Mayor Billy Kenoi said Wednesday.

“Darryl Oliveira is a unique, qualified person,” Kenoi said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

The selection should be finalized in about a week, he said.
