Officials of the Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset announce their November “Student of the Month” for the Puna district, Alakea Bidal, an 11th-grader at Kua O Ka La school. The school’s teachers and administrators chose him because he exemplifies one of the school’s slogans, “to love and have respect for one another.”
Rotary Club President Glen Calvert said the service club is recognizing a student each month who demonstrates progress in their school work. School teachers and administrators select the student of the month. Each winner will receive a gift card and a certificate of recognition. Awards will be presented each month at a Rotary meeting, which are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the historic Akebono Theater in Pahoa. The public is invited to attend.
