“Galaxy Forum Hawaii 2013 — Advancing Galaxy 21st Century Education and International Lunar Observatory Association HQ in Hawaii” will be the focus of a free program from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Waimea Community Education at 65-1184 Mamalahoa Highway. Highlights of the program include a presentation by Maohai Huang, a visiting scientist from Beijing, China, who is part of the International Lunar Observatory Association collaboration with China’s Chang’e 3 Moon landing this December.
Other speakers will be Robert Zellner, a teacher at Kanu o ka ‘Aina New Century School and recipient of the Space Foundation Lucy Enos Memorial Scholarship, on “Advancing Space and Galaxy Across the Curriculum,” and Lysha Matsunobu, an exemplary local student at Parker School and participant of the Summer Science Program at Westmont College, who will discuss her work and future related to “Science, Astronomy, Asteroids & Software.”
The ILOA is also introducing its newly developed Galaxy Map 2013, an innovative resource for 21st Century Education “in every class” and will share exciting news about the evolving project to develop a Global Headquarters and International Research/Education Center in Waimea.
