University of Hawaii at Hilo forward Kristine Pasek has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor Monday for matches played Oct. 14-20.
Pasek, a junior from Apple Valley, Calif., scored two goals and totaled four points during a 2-0-0 week for the Vulcans.
She tallied the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Oct. 14, punching in the decisive score at the 51:32 mark.
On Saturday, Pasek propelled the Vulcans to an early 1-0 lead over Dominican with a goal at 32:41. UH-Hilo then went on to win the game in overtime, 2-1.
For the season, the Lady Vulcans are 8-3-1 overall and 6-3 in the PacWest.
The UHH men’s team also defeated the Penguins from San Rafael, Calif. on Saturday at the UHH baseball field. David Robinson scored the Vulcans’ goal in the 63rd minute.
For the season, the Vulcan men are 4-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the PacWest.
Lance Thompson, the Vulcans director of soccer, coaches both UHH teams.
The Vulcans next visit Hawaii Pacific University on Wednesday at the UHH field. The women battle at 12:30 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
