Five Big Island teams will duel it out in an all-day roller derby showdown Saturday at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
The Hilo Bay Bruisers, Volcano Vixens, Mauna Killahz, Waimea Wranglers and Echo City Knockouts will battle in the ten-bout, five-round tournament.
Tickets are $5 for the whole day and can be purchased at Mountain View Village Video, CD Wizard, Hilo Town Tavern, Jungle Love Pahoa or Jeff Hunt Surfboards Pahoa. Kids age 5 and under are free, plus a portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Hawaii Wildlife Fund. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the day of the event or online at
paradiserollergirls.com.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the first bout between the Vixens and Wranglers starts at noon. The next matchup between the Bruisers and Killahz is slated for 12:45 pm, with eight more bouts on tap. Hilo High fundraiser
The Hilo Athletic Committee will hold its annual steakfry fundraiser from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the school patio to support the school’s athletic department.
Kiawe-grilled steaks will be on sale for $8 per plate.
