LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan’s state parks are offering a variety of fall festivals this month with activities such as hayrides, scarecrow building, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, costume contests and more.
Maia Turek, of the Department of Natural Resources says Michigan is home to more than 70 annual harvest festivals.
They typically run throughout the weekend so people can extend camping season while taking part. Turek says campers should make reservations soon because harvest festivals are a popular destination for many families and the campgrounds fill up fast.
Among locations hosting a harvest festival are Otsego Lake State Park, Hoffmaster State Park, Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park and Port Crescent State Park.
Activities vary from one festival to another. The DNR “Harvests and Haunts” calendar has specific information and dates.
