For the month of June, Kokua Kailua festivities in Historic Kailua Village happen one week earlier than most months. June’s event is planned for today and, as always, Alii Drive will become a pedestrian-only walkway from 1 to 6 p.m.
For the month of June, Kokua Kailua festivities in Historic Kailua Village happen one week earlier than most months. June’s event is planned for today and, as always, Alii Drive will become a pedestrian-only walkway from 1 to 6 p.m. in the heart of the village.
Kick start your summer by browsing and shopping from dozens of island vendors that line Alii Drive and merchants that open their stores for the occasion, many with special Kokua Kailua offers. Grab a seat in one of Historic Kailua Village’s many restaurants and people-watch while enjoying a delicious meal before, during or after Kokua Kailua.
At 4 p.m., enjoy an afternoon of entertainment on the lawn at Hulihee Palace.
On Saturday, June 15, Historic Kailua Village welcomes the annual King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade. The parade begins at 9 a.m. near Royal Kona Resort, travels down Alii Drive and then up Palani Road to Kuakini Highway.
The next Kokua Kailua will be Sunday, July 21. The Kokua Kailua Village Stroll is sponsored by the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, Destination Kona Coast, Kailua Village Merchants Association, Hulihee Palace, West Hawaii Today and Pacific Radio Group.
The program is designed to rally support for merchants and restaurants and to remind residents to shop, dine and buy local.
