Portraits and landscapes are two of the most common subjects explored in fine art, but there is nothing “common” about Volcano Art Center’s newest show. “The People, The Places,” featuring the oil and pastel works of artists Vicki Penney-Rohner and Kira Kamamalu Ventrella, debuts Saturday at the VAC Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through July 21.
On Sunday Penney-Rohner will give a painting demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Ventrella will join her from 2 to 4 p.m. for an artist talk.
