‘Imiloa Astronomy Center is seeking junior explorers and innovators in grades K-5 for its “CAMP ‘Imi-POSSIBLE Summer Intersession Program 2013” happening Monday through Friday, May 27-31 and June 3-7.
Keiki explorers will be immersed in a week-long adventure of “WAI-ology,” an investigation of the mysterious water realms of inner and outer space. By exploring water’s role in our search for life beyond Earth, keiki will follow in the footsteps of Mauna Kea astronomers observing Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa.
On the final day of each camp, parents and keiki will actively participate in the WAI-ology Ho‘ike, a celebration of new learning. This summer session will have two duplicate one-week sessions to choose from, to help accommodate the busy summer schedules. The camp runs from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Drop-off is available as early as 7:30 a.m. with pick up by 4 p.m. Lunch and snacks are not included.
Support has been received from the Thirty Meter Telescope. Enrollment for the intersession program is open, but space is limited. Tuition for the program is $180 for members and $200 for non-members. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Applications and scholarship information can be found at www.imiloahawaii.org.
