Lady Vul golfers
in fourth place
The University of Hawaii at Hilo was in fourth place heading into today’s second round of the Pacific West Conference Women’s Golf Championships in El Cerriot, Calif.
The tournament is being played at the Mira Vista Golf & Country Club.
Grand Canyon University and Academy of Art University are tied for the lead with 325 totals. They are followed by Dixie State College (326) in third and the Jim DeMello-coached Vulcans (328) in fourth.
UHH’s Kirsten Sawada and Erika Morihiro were tied for 4th place aftrer the first round at 6-over-par 78. Tied for 16th place was teammate Nyssa Aoki with an 85. Kacie Harada (T-23, 87) and Jade Salvador (31st, 91) complete the Vulcan squad.
Adult hoops league at St. Joe Gym
Players and teams are being sought for a summer adult basketball league at St. Joseph School’s Walter Victor Gym, starting Wednesday, May 15.

HI-PAL Click It or Ticket hoops
Hawaii Island Police Activities League “Click It or Ticket” 5-on-5 basketball tournament will be held April 27 at Honomu Gymnasium on April 27.
This tournament is open to the first eight teams in the 9-10 age division only.
Deadline for teams to complete the registration packet and enter the tournament is Wednesday.

Brantley Center
golf benefit April 28
Brantley Center will hold its 35th annual golf tournament on Sunday, April 28, at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course. Check-in is at 6:30 a.m. with a shot-gun start at 7:15 a.m.
The tournament will use a two-person best ball modified format. Entry fee is $125 per golfer and includes green fees, three mulligans, lucky number prizes and lunch.
All early entries will be eligible for an early entry drawing. Golfers also have a chance to win $15,000 in prize money for a hole-in-one. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.thebrantleycenter.org.
Golfers must register by April 26 to be eligible for the early entry drawing.

Hawaii Island Hoops camp in June
Hawaii Island Hoops will hold a College-Prep Basketball Camp from June 3-7 at Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.
The camp is open to boys ages 13-19 who are looking to improve their skills and learn a college-style program. The cost of the five-day camp is $350 and “includes top-notch college coach/player instruction from the NCAA, NAIA and JUCO level, evening college-prep seminars on academic requirements, financial aid and athletic recruitment,” according to a release.
