Ryon Healy and Aaron Payne each went 4 for 5, and Healy homered Sunday as No. 6 Oregon collected 16 hits to beat the University of Hawaii for the third straight game, 9-6 at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.
The Warriors (0-3) took their first lead of the season in the first inning on Pi’ikea Kitamura’s RBI single, but the Ducks went ahead on a pair of sacrifice flies in the fourth and fifth, then Healy added run-scoring hits in the fifth and seventh to give Oregon a 5-1 lead. He cleared the right-field fence in the ninth.
Cole Irvin (1-0) pitched seven innings and allowed three runs in victory for Oregon (3-0).
Connor Little (0-1) worked into the seventh for UH.
LJ Brewster singled in a run to cut the deficit to 5-3 in the seventh, but Oregon answered with three runs in the eighth, getting RBI doubles from Mitchell Tolman and Scott Heineman (2 for 4), with an RBI single by J.J. Altobelli (2 for 4) sandwiched in between.
Brett Thomas was 2 for 5, including a two-bagger to drive in a run, and Payne scored three times.
Kitamura added an RBI double in eighth, and Andre Real and Andre Klemen also finished with two hits. Kleman plated a run with a single in the eighth.
Little allowed eight hits and five runs, four earned, with two walks and three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Irvin walked two and gave up five hits with four strikeouts.
UH will try to salvage the final game of the series at 1 p.m. today in a game on OC12.
