Shut down by Seamus Yoneshige a night earlier, Augustana busted out its bats Saturday to sweep a baseball doubleheader against the University of Hawaii at Hilo at Wong Stadium.
Tony Viger collected a pair of two-run singles and was 3 for 5 with five RBIs as the Vikings outslugged the Vulcans in the first game 16-13.
Starting pitcher David Borchardt lasted only four innings on the mound, but he helped his team’s cause at the plate, finishing 4 for 6 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored.
Jeremy Dela Cruz took the loss for UHH (1-3), lasting 3 1/3 innings and yielding six hits, five runs — four earned — with two walks and a strikeout.
Zachary Hamasaki and Will Cleary each collected two hits for the Vulcans.
Despite allowing three hits, three walks and three earned runs in only 1 2/3 innings of relief, Michael Willman got the win for Augustana (4-5).
The starting pitchers in the nightcap, an 8-6 Vikings’ victory, combined to get only two outs.
UHH’s Bryce Shandro failed to get an out and walked three as Augustana erupted for five runs.
Jake Petersen was 2 for 5 and Jason Rasmussen went 2 for 4 with a RBI single.
For the Vuls, John Abreu knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly during a four-run first inning and finished with two RBIs, and Hilo High graduate Keenan Nishioka continued the strong start to his college career, going 2 for 3.
Grant Larson picked up the win with 4 1/3 innings or relief.

Yoneshige struck out 10 and didn’t allow an earned run over five innings as the Vulcans gained a split in the doubleheader.
Augustana pitcher Ben Heairet, who lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked Rich Mariano and Hamasaki to open the bottom of the first, and Kim’s blast quickly put the Vulcans ahead 3-0.
UHH then loaded the bases, and after a Tyler Nitahara sacrifice fly and an RBI double by Garrett Micheels, Mariano followed with a two-run single.
Nishioka, a freshman, added a two-run triple in the second. Nishioka and Abreu both went 2 for 3.
Yoneshige, a junior left-hander, allowed just a hit and one walk.
