Quilters of the Big Island are invited to participate in the annual Big Island Quilt Shop Hop Feb. 1-23. The theme of the free islandwide event is “Scenes From The Big Island.” Each of the eight participating quilt shops will have a unique quilt block, designed locally, to depict a special treasure of the Big Island.
These are the participating entities: Pahala Quilting, honu; Kilauea Kreations I, nene; Kilauea Kreations II, plumeria; The Fabric Workshop, hibiscus; Fabric Impressions, orchid; Topstitch, torch ginger; Fabric Gift Shoppe, i‘iwi and lehua; Quilt Passions, dolphins.
Participants may pick up a passport and map from any of the eight locations, “hop” to each shop to have the passport stamped and to get a free quilt block pattern. Custom quilt block kits with fabrics will be available for purchase. Quilt shop “hoppers” with a completed passports will be eligible for the grand prize drawings. Numerous other prizes will also be awarded.
Each shop offers the “Quilt Shop Hopper” a unique experience with its location, personality and beautiful fabrics. In-store special events, sale items, prize drawings and unique handmade treasures await the “hoppers” at each location. Bus excursions from various locations will be available.
