Pedro Peter’s preliminary hearing was delayed Wednesday. The hearing is now scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 12.
Deputy Prosecuting Kimberly Taniyma requested the delay, after learning the Marshallese interpreter brought to Wednesday’s hearing to translate the proceedings for Peter had also been part of the police investigation in Peter’s son’s death. Taniyama said the translator may be called as a witness and could not serve as court interpreter.
Peter was charged with manslaughter and several associated charges after his 3-year-old son, Joel Peter, exited Peter’s truck and was subsequently run over by the truck.
