Hawaii County firefighters responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning in Captain Cook.
Located on Kahauloa Road, the two-story house was completely in flames when firefighters first arrived at 3:19 a.m.
The 20-foot-by-30-foot secondary structure was not connected to the main house on the property.
It contained a garage, kitchen and living area on the first floor with an office/storage area on the second floor.
The unit had collapsed prior to their arrival, and firefighters reported that neighbors were protecting the area around the fire with garden hoses to prevent its spread.
The fire was brought under control at 4 a.m., with the fire department estimating damage totaling $110,000.
