Woman arrested in car theft

Police have charged a 28-year-old Hilo woman for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

Sasha Leinani Shelly Soares was arrested in Nanawale Estates in Puna on Sunday after she was spotted driving a Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen during a burglary in Kailua-Kona on Oct. 17.

Soares was charged Tuesday with one count of auto theft. Her bail was set at $10,000.
