St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo invites the community to three special programs on Saturday in honor of Hawaii’s new saint, Mother Marianne Cope.
A Mass for Saint Marianne will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the church on Haili Street in downtown Hilo. This will be followed by a time for viewing her relic (a portion of her hip bone) from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Then, at 6:30 p.m., everyone is invited to attend a performance of the play “November’s Song” about her life. Entrance is free, but free-will donations will be accepted to help cover the production costs.
The play will be presented by the St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church Spirit-led Drama Club for the Father Damien/Mother Marianne Commission of the Diocese of Honolulu.
The play was written by George Herman, updated by Sr. Mary Laurence Hanley, DSF, and stars Eva Andrade as Sr. Marianne in the production directed by Modesto Cordero.
